Butt Acne: What Are The Causes? How To Cure Them?

Causes of butt acne

Butt acne is formed by the action of dead skin, infection from bacteria, fungus, yeast and effects of oil in the follicles of the hair in the butt area. Dermatologists cite two major reasons for butt acne. These are:

Folliculitis

This is a symptom characterised by inflammation of hair follicles. These are small bumps on the butt surface, which occur due to friction or bacterial infections. They get filled with pus-like fluid after some time.

Carbuncles

Carbuncles, referred to as boils, are cysts developed relatively deep inside the skin. When folliculitis gets out of control, it becomes Carbuncle. They are more painful and take longer time to be healed.

How to cure butt acne?

Here are a few things you must do at home to cure butt acne.

Wash regularly

One of the best ways to prevent butt acne is to bathe regularly. Wash the skin at least twice a day with a good antibacterial soap. Take off sweaty clothes and take a shower as soon as possible.

Use saline solution

Salt water is used to treat butt acne. Prepare the saline water at home by mixing one teaspoon of common salt with two cups of water. Dip a clean piece of cotton cloth into the solution and apply it on the acne.

Use heat treatment

Heat treatment not only eases the pain, but it also helps the dirt and pus-like liquid come out easily. However, do not use excessive heat. Place a warm, wet washcloth gently over the affected area. A warm bath is even better.

Use zinc-based creams

Use a mineral zinc-based clear gel for acne to help reduce the acne symptoms. For best, take advice of your dermatologist.

Avoid tight-fitting clothing

Tight-fitting clothing can rub the bacteria back into the skin. Do not wear tight undergarments, spandex or skinny jeans. Use clothing made from cotton.
While these are things that you can do at home to get some relief from butt acne, the best thing is to consult your dermatologist for complete remedy.
